This survey is now closed. Following a suggestion from a resident, Pontyclun Community Council consulted on the proposal to turn the parking bays on the east side of the town center into extended pedestrian walkways. It had been suggested that this could increase the safety of pedestrians during this Covid period. We gained over 200 responses to the consultation and we thank all those who responded. Around 70% of those who responded, both residents and traders, were opposed to the proposal. After considering the results the Council has decided not to proceed with the suggestion that it had received. We thank the resident for initiating a debate. As a response to the debate the Council has decided to put up signs in the town center asking all of us to be considerate of other users of the pavements, to wear face masks as we queue outside shops and walk down crowded pavements, to maintain social distance. The Council thanks everyone who uses our local shops. Together we can make our town center safe and prosperous.
