Membership for The York BID Company is open to all eligible to all businesses who are eligible to pay an annual BID levy payers. Members can:
  • Vote on Company matters at all Annual General Meetings and Extraordinary General Meetings
  • Stand for election to the Board (which will rotate on a bi-annual basis) and become a director of the Company
Any organisations wishing to become a member of the Company must nominate a single named representative. This person will be authorised to vote on behalf of your organisation at subsequent Annual General meetings and Extraordinary General Meetings.

If the individual applying does not hold a senior management role within the organisation, they may be required to provide supportive materials to prove they the appropriate authority levels.
 
By applying to become a member the named representative on this form agrees that they have read and will adhere to the following members rules.

THE YORK BID COMPANY MEMBERSHIP RULES
  1. Every BID Levy Payer or equivalent financial contributor is eligible to become a member.
  2. Where a levy payer has multiple hereditaments, he/she is entitled to one membership/one vote.
  3. To become a member, a levy payer must complete the appropriate registration form.
  4. To become a member a levy payer/financial contributor must have paid their levy dues in full.
  5. Members must work in the best interests of the company and its objectives and in supporting the agreed Business Plan. Rules set out in the BID Company Articles of Association and the Companies Act 2006 relating to the conduct of members/directors will also apply.
  6. Registered members interested in furthering their involvement with the York BID can formally apply to be a Board Director. This is subject to vacant seats and in accordance with the items 24.1-24.7 of the York BID Company Articles of Association (retirement and rotation of directors).
  7. Members will not be able to stand for the position of Chair unless they have served a minimum of a year as a Board Director.
  8. Members must declare any conflicts of interest.
