Woke Songs with Mich and Ryan - Collaborator Callout!
Registration form
Are you a young person aged 15-19 who identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community, or as a friend/ally? Would you like to get involved in a new theatre project documenting the experience of growing up queer in the South West?
Woke Songs by Mich Sanderson and Ryan Wilce, supported by Wiltshire Creative’s SHIFT Development Fund, is all about amplifying the voices of the region’s LGBTQ+ youth. Through a series of informal storytelling workshops, Mich, Ryan and the young people involved will explore and detail what they think the world should know about the SW queer experience.
The testimony of the participants will then be developed into a series of modern folk songs, and ultimately a work-in-progress musical performance at the Salisbury Playhouse in February 2022!
Come along, have fun, meet new friends and make your voice heard!
No musical experience is necessary, and despite the name ‘Woke Songs’ you won’t be asked to sing (unless you want to, of course)! However, if you are a young musician, we are interested in hearing your music and finding out about why you write or perform!
Sessions will take place at Salisbury Arts Centre on Fridays 1st and 8th October, 5-6.30pm and 22nd October 3.30-5pm.
If under 18, this form must be completed by a parent/guardian, as we need their permission in order for you to participate.
We will be in touch ahead of the first session with final information.
