Please answer the following questions if you are a resident of Wilsden.

In June and July 2017 we had a major consultation for the Wilsden Neighbourhood Plan. This identified small changes that were required to make the Plan legally enforceable and some significant issues that needed clarification. Whilst investigating the issues where we needed clarification from Bradford, it became clear that the Government was going to change the national regulations which affected the policies that could be included within a Neighbourhood Plan. In February, the Government issued new national guidelines and we are now moving forward as rapidly as possible to deliver a Neighbourhood Plan that will meet the needs of Wilsden for the next 10-15 years.

During the preparation of 2017 draft Wilsden Neighbourhood Plan we issued a consultation questionnaire and this indicated a preference for smaller, more densely built houses. This preference was based upon people’s expectations of their housing needs and on a desire to minimise the amount of green field land used for housing. The 2017 draft Plan included a policy designed to limit the number of larger houses that will be built in Wilsden in the future.

We now wish to undertake a further consultation to determine the views of the residents of Wilsden in how we develop a detailed policy. When preparing the draft Neighbourhood Plan we considered ways of defining larger houses and decided that it was not desirable to have a policy that could be either too complicated or too restrictive.

Thank you in advance for your participation.
