This survey hasn’t been put together by a single organisation or big funder. It comes about as a result of a number of people from a mix of Essex-based arts organisations and local authorities getting together to discuss the absence of an Essex-wide network for cultural organisations in the county, and the impact that has for cultural practitioners and organisations across the county.
We think there could be real value in having a network that could plug our individual work into the bigger countywide and regional picture, ensure that we’re aware of similar regional and countrywide opportunities and better connect us with funders. We’ve sounded out a few people we know and think there’s enough interest for it to be worth testing the idea more widely with our peers across the county.
So, we’d love you to share your thoughts via this survey - whether you agree with us or not! The survey's really short – only 15 or so questions in total – and will take you 10 mins max to do. We promise to share our findings and conclusions with you if you’d like us to, once the survey has closed on 10 October. And if you'd like us to, as a thank you, we can enter you into a prize draw to win a £50 Bandcamp gift card.
When they work, there’s nothing quite like the power of a good network so in that spirit, we’d be so grateful if you could share this survey far and wide amongst your friends and peers across Essex’s cultural sector. We really want to hear from as many people as possible so that – should this move forward – it really feels like it’s based on what people want and need.

In addition to your views, this survey may collect some personal information if you choose to provide it. All full data responses will be confidential, stored securely and not shared with anybody outside our research team at the hub. After analysis, all personal data and full data responses will be deleted forever. Any direct quotes used in any reporting produced from the data, either written or shared online, will also be fully anonymised.
