Tricketts Memorial Garden Survey
Tricketts Memorial Garden
Waterfoot Forward have been working with Rossendale Borough Council, Civic Pride Rossendale and Proffitts—Investing in Communities on proposals to upgrade and improve Tricketts Memorial Garden. The garden was given to the people of Rawtenstall borough in 1920 in memory of 44 workers from nearby Gaghills Mill, the footwear factory of Sir H W Trickett Ltd who died as a result of their service in the army and navy during the First World War.
The sketch below outlines some first thoughts and ideas about how the area can be improved:
TREE WORKS — Working alongside an Arboriculturalist and Ecologist to survey and assess the trees and carry out a programme of pruning, thinning, crown lifting and felling (where required) to bring the woodland area into better management and to make it safe
MEMORIALS — Upgrade the surfacing/steps leading to the stone boulder memorial and install a new Memorial bench (location to be agreed)
PATHS AND DESIRELINES — Improve footpath surfacing and link paths around the wider site including the pavement leading into the Garden; look to reinstate the stone setts at the entrance beneath the archway
PLANTING — Support the fantastic work already being carried out by Civic Pride Rossendale and enhance biodiversity through planting native wildflowers and managing Himalayan Balsam at the rear of the site
However, before we move forward with this, we'd like to give you the opportunity to share your thoughts and feedback about the plans with us.
The survey is very short and should only take a couple of minutes to complete. Thank you for your help.
