Introduction to the survey

This survey is part of a consultation with people who have experienced trauma or had experiences that have had a long-term effect on their mental health and/ or life in general. If you identify with this, this survey is a chance to have your say about trauma service design in Lothian and how information about a trauma service should be produced.

Why is this consultation being done?

NHS Lothian is changing the way it provides support and treatment for people who have experience of trauma. It is important that the views of people who might want to use a trauma service, or have used the current service (the Rivers Centre) are part of this change.

How is this consultation being done?

This consultation is experience-led: it is being designed by people who say that they have experienced trauma, or had experiences that have had a long-term negative effect on their mental health. It is facilitated by CAPS Independent Advocacy. CAPS' job is to work to amplify the voices of people who have experience of mental health issues in Lothian.

We know that filling in a survey doesn’t work for everyone. We will be holding focus groups in early 2016, so please get in contact with Niamh, Ele or Lili at CAPS to talk about coming to one of those, or to talk about other ways that would be good for you to contribute to this consultation. You can get in touch with us on 0131 273 5116 or ele@capsadvocacy.org.

The deadline for getting this survey back to us is Friday the 12th of February 2016.
