Rationale

Our rationale for opening an autism-specific all through school for students aged from 5–19 years is to:
• Meet the local deficit in places for a broad range of children on the autistic spectrum.
• Provide a high-quality, consistent approach to the teaching of students with autism, with highly skilled staff, through a curriculum that is tailored specifically to meet their needs and prepares them for that next step into adulthood.
• Provide a centre of excellence in autism practice, by partnering with organisations and working in the field of research and development of best practice.
• Respond to the demand and support from local parents, the LA and local schools.
