* 4. The Geffrye Museum takes its name from its setting in almshouses built in 1714 by Sir Robert Geffrye. When the museum was set up in 1914, the historic place name was kept. The museum’s theme and collections evolved over the years to focus on home and home life and we added the Museum of the Home to our name seven years ago. Now, as we reimagine the museum for the future, we want to make much more of being a museum of the home and encourage more people to visit and get involved. This may mean placing less emphasis on the Geffrye part of our name or dropping it altogether. Tell us what you think.
