The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how Tameside Council will involve the local community, stakeholders and other organisations in preparing and revising local planning documents and making decisions on planning applications.

The current SCI was adopted in 2016. Local Planning Authorities are required to carry out a review of their SCIs every five years from the adoption date. There have been a number of changes to planning legislation, policy and guidance that need to be reflected in this update. In addition, there is a need to reflect on the measures implemented to help combat the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and the implications for planning-related consultations. The draft SCI has been prepared to respond to the demand of social distancing to ensure effective community engagement continues to take place during this time.

The Council welcomes comments on any of the detail included within the SCI, including on the techniques and methods of engagement proposed.

Before completing the survey please read and familiarise yourself with the updated draft of the Statement of Community Involvement for 2020, if you have not already, which can be accessed here.

Please note all comments will be held by the Council and will be available to view publicly. Comments cannot be treated as confidential. Your personal information, such as your postal and e-mail address, will not be published, but your name and organisation (if relevant) will.

We only keep your personal information when it’s relevant for us to do so. Any information will be stored securely and held only as long as we need to. You can find out more information on how we use your personal data and your data rights by viewing our Service Privacy Notice.
