St George's and the future

Any church that wants to get the message of Jesus out to the wider community has to look at how we communicate. We have an amazing message but sometimes the way we present it may need to be updated. Mission and community engagement requires us to look at the medium we use if we are to connect with a wider audience. Technology is now so much a part of our lives it will need to be embraced if we are serious about being effective communicators in our Culture. In order to do this properly we have to be well-resourced and it is for this reason that we are asking for some feedback.

At St. George’s we particularly want to reconnect with young families and to encourage our youth and children’s work. This group will be used to accessing online resources and using multi-media every day. It is therefore with our future in mind that we would like to hear from you. Your response will help us to create a vision together and shape our thinking about resourcing the future.

Providing speakers in the church rooms so the service can be relayed

Providing a visual relay of what is happening in the main body of the church in the church rooms.

A video camera trained on the font to improve sightlines for baptisms

Podcasts of sermons uploaded to the website so people can ‘listen again’

An integrated system for showing films/You-Tube clips/Powerpoint/Worship songs and having a projector permanently mounted in church

The ability to play pre-recorded music from any source e.g. CD, Computer, iPad, MP3 player etc
