Sexual Health Training Scoping Exercise 2017

Sefton Sexual Health Service is commissioned by Sefton Council to deliver a combined clinical service alongside sexual health promotion. The service is expected to provided targeted work and support for young people and other members of the community who are known to be more vulnerable to poor sexual health. Part of this support is building capacity within the teams of

professionals who support these groups.

This questionnaire is a scoping activity to help us understand how that training should look so that we can plan a workforce

development programme that is tailor-made specifically to Sefton.

The questions below ask a little about your organisation and role in supporting young people. It then goes to ask questions about the types of training that would be useful and whether accreditation is something which is valued.

A "level 1" session outlining young people's needs and key issues in relation to their sexual health and relationships? The session would also include how to access local services.

A "level 2" session that is designed to be more bespoke to your client group's needs and provides guidance on supporting around specific sex and relationship issues.

A "level 3" programme that focusses on building capacity within your organisation to be able to support and train colleagues around providing sex and relationships support. This training would look at developing your own in-house training.

Specific training for staff supporting young people with learning difficulties on dealing with relationships and sexual health issues.

C Card training. This allows your organisation to sign up as a registration or pick up point for the condom distribution scheme for 13 - 19 year olds.

Speakeasy (fpa accredited) training the trainers for your staff teams. Once accredited and completed, this qualification allows the holder to be able to deliver Speakeasy programmes to groups of parents and carers. This is delivered by Parenting 2000

Themed sessions on specific sexual health issues eg. contraceptive choices, STI transmission, sex and the law, staying safe in relationships, sex and pleasure etc.
