1. Information sheet - Project 360° unpaid carer questionnaire

About Project 360°

Project 360° is a partnership project between: Age Cymru, the largest charity working with and for older people in Wales; veteran’s charity Woody’s Lodge; and Age Alliance Wales, an alliance of 23 national charities that work together to support older people in Wales. The project aims to improve services for military veterans aged 65 or over across Wales whilst keeping veterans at the heart of the process.

In our initial research with veterans in Wales we found that one third of the people we spoke to looked after someone as an unpaid carer. This led us to want to understand in more detail what impacts the day to day lives of these veterans, what helps them in their unpaid carer role, and what support they may need which they don't currently have that may help them in their role.

What is an unpaid carer?

An unpaid carer is someone who looks after, or gives any help or support to family members, friends, neighbours or others because of long-term physical or mental ill-health or disability, or problems related to old age.

What is a military veteran?

A military veteran is someone who was a member of any of the UK armed services including national service, reserves or was a merchant mariner who saw duty on a military operation, for one day or more

How you can help us

If you are an unpaid carer AND a military veteran who is 65 or over. OR if you are an unpaid carer looking after a military veteran who is 65 or over; we would really appreciate it if you could complete this questionnaire.

This will help us find out what support services would make a difference to the lives of older veterans who are unpaid carers, and those unpaid carers looking after older veterans living in Wales.

The project will then use the information collected to improve services for older veterans across Wales through the project partners.

The project does not take referrals or directly sign post people to organisations in response to the information collected. However, if you want to contact someone for support after taking this questionnaire please call the Age Cymru adviceline on 08000 223 444. They can give free, impartial advice to over 50s, their families and friends across all areas of Wales on a range of subjects.
