Information about this survey

You are being invited to participate in a research study titled A mixed methods study of the role and influence of digital technology in pregnancy and childbirth in the UK. This study is being conducted by me, Philippa Machin, a PhD student at King’s College London as part of my PhD research project. The purpose of my project is to gain a better understanding of how women in the UK use digital technology during pregnancy and childbirth. This survey will take approximately 5 to 10 minutes to complete, and you are free to skip any question. 

To be eligible to participate in this study, you must be:
1) aged 18 or over
2) a UK resident
3) either currently pregnant, or have been pregnant in the last two years
4) willing and able to give consent to participate in this survey

The results of this study will be written up in my PhD thesis, which will be accessible in print and online. Results may also be disseminated in conference presentations, and published articles.

This research study has been approved by the King’s College London Research Ethics Committee, reference number: LRS-16/17-4739

Your participation in this study is entirely voluntary and you can stop at any time until the survey is submitted (you will not be able to withdraw after submitting the survey because it will not be possible to identify your responses).

There are no known risks or benefits associated with this research study; however, if you find that the topics raised by the survey are distressing or upsetting for any reason you do not have to continue. 

As with any online-related activity the risk of a breach is always possible, but to the best of my ability your answers in this study will remain confidential. You will not be asked for your name or contact details, and any potentially identifiable responses will be handled in accordance with the terms of the General Data Protection Regulation as it applies in the UK under the Data Protection Act 2018.
