Following the submission of the revised restoration scheme for the Nant Helen Surface Mine, Celtic Energy Ltd is consulting on complementary earthworks that would provide a flexible landform that can be used or adapted for a diverse set of future uses. This could range from the traditional agriculture, woodland and nature conservation uses, to amenity, leisure and tourism uses. It could also include industrial uses such as the Welsh Government’s proposal for a Global Centre of Rail Excellence for rail testing and storage (visit https://gov.wales/global-centre-rail-excellence-wales for more information).

The draft planning application -  which can be viewed at www.coal.com/community-consultation/nanthelen - includes earthworks with cutting and embankments as well as drainage works associated with the revised landform.
