Question Title

* 1. Information about the study: This research study is funded by Northern Ireland Screen and being undertaken by Professor Declan Keeney from Ulster University. Before you decide whether or not to take part it is important that you understand what the research is for and what it would involve for you.  Please take the time to read the following information carefully.  

What is the purpose of this study? The purpose of this study is to chart the journey of GCSE, AS and A-level Moving Image Arts students over 5 years initially to gather information on how students view Moving Image Arts and the future education and career that they choose. This is the third year of data collection for the study. 

Why have I been asked to take part? You have been asked to take part in this study because you are currently undertaking or have previously undertaken either GCSE, AS or A-Level Moving Image Arts. 

Do I have to take part? No, taking part in this research is entirely voluntary and it is to you to decide if you want to participate. If you choose to take part, you can still change your mind at any time and withdraw from the study.

What will I have to do? If you decide to take part in the study, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire online each year. The link to the survey will be emailed to you at the email address you provide. If you decide that you don’t want to take part anymore, that is no problem. You can just stop completing the questionnaires. If you decide to take part in the study, all you have to do is consent to take part by ticking the box at the end of this information page and provide an email address. 

Are there any risks? There are no risks to taking part in the study.

Are there any possible benefits in taking part? You will not benefit directly from this study however the information gathered may help to improve the understanding of the impact that GCSE, AS and A-level Moving Image Arts has had on the creative industries in Northern Ireland and assist in future planning.

What if something goes wrong? It is very unlikely that anything will go wrong with this study as all participants are being asked to do is to complete questionnaire online. However Ulster University has procedures for reporting, investigating, recording and handling adverse events.  Please contact the University if you wish to make a complaint.

Will my taking part in this study be kept confidential? Yes, taking part in the study will be completely confidential.  You will not be identifiable at any point of the research.  All data collected will be anonymous. Electronic data will be stored on a university password protected computer. Data will be retained for 10 years.

How will the data be anonymised? You will complete online questionnaires during your time in the Cohort. You will not be asked for your name at any stage while completing these questionnaires. No number or identifying code will be attached to your responses. No IP addresses will be recorded. There will be no way of linking you to your responses therefore they will be totally anonymous.
