Introduction

To gain a better understanding of the requirements for data standards, compliance and integrity, in the context of metabolomics research, we would like to gain an insight into your current practices, future needs, and opinions, on how you manage your metabolomics research data.

The survey is intended for all participants in data-intensive metabolomics research - from clinical practitioners and biologists, to data managers and curators, to software engineers and infrastructure architects. The results of this survey will be fed back to the metabolomics community at large, and will help inform how to better facilitate data management, publication, and visibility of research within the metabolomics community. This survey has been commissioned on behalf of the PhenoMeNal project.

The PhenoMeNal project is developing an open-source e-infrastructure for the processing, analysis and information-mining of the massive amount of medical molecular phenotyping and genotyping data that will be generated by metabolomics applications. The project is publicly funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Framework Programme. For more information on the project and its goals, please see http://phenomenal-h2020.eu or contact Dr David Johnson at david.johnson@oerc.ox.ac.uk for specific questions about the project or this survey.

The survey consists a series of mostly multiple choice questions across 8 sections, and should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete. All of questions in the main body of the survey are optional, so please feel free to answer or to skip any questions you like.

We would like to thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this survey, and we expect to publish its results later this year.
