Developing Social Practice in our Places
The Leap are conducting this survey to delve into Socially Engaged Art Practice and what this means for our communities and artists we are working with.
What we are trying to find out from this survey:
What can we learn from current practice?
How can we embed Social Practice in our places?
What do we need to make it happen?
We wish to research and take forward a set of actions to develop and embed more social practice in our areas of work.
When referring to the term social practice, The Leap mean activities or projects where artists and communities / individuals come together to co-author or co-produce creative representations of the world around us. The process behind the work produced is often as important as the final creative work, and projects are often reliant on collaboration and discussion. The work often reflects multiple voices about a particular social, political, economical or environmental issue, rather than that of a single artistic voice.
