Volunteer Expression of Interest Form

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in the second season of excavations of King's Seat Hillfort near Dunkeld. The King's Seat Hillfort Community Archaeology Project is a local community initiative developed in partnership with Dunkeld and Birnam Historical Society and other community groups. It's a project for the community, by the community about a place that is valuable to the community. If you live locally to Dunkeld, are enthusiastic about the past and keen to help discover more about this hidden heritage treasure then please express your interest using this form.

The dig runs for two weeks, 9am - 5pm each day -  Week 1: Tuesday 4th - Saturday 8th September, Week 2: Tuesday 11th - Saturday 15th September. No experience is necessary but you do need to be fit enough to walk to the summit of the hillfort which is c.20 minute steep uphill walk whilst carrying digging equipment. There will be a lot of kneeling, bending and lifting throughout the days work. The minimum age for participation without guardian supervision is 16.  We ask for a minimum of 2 consecutive days of commitment from volunteers.

Before handing you a trowel, there are a few questions we need to ask to ascertain your suitability. If you have not volunteered with Perth and Kinross Heritage Trust before then we'll get in touch to ask you to complete an addition volunteer registration form.

Further logistical details will be shared via email nearer the time and following full completion of sign-up.

PLEASE NOTE: Completion of this expression of interest form does not confirm you a place on the dig. We will be in touch directly once we have assessed applications to confirm whether you have a place and the days of your placement.

If your situation changes and you can no longer come then please do let us know as it’s really important we know how many people we have on site each day as this effects how we run the dig.
