These prestigious special categories are for the most deserving in our industry and you determine them. We've shortlisted the best of the best and now we need you to vote for the winners in 2018. We have 4 categories for which we need your vote. You have shown impeccable taste and judgement on previous years voting Jonathan Mizzi, Anna Hart, Resonate Interiors and Ken Shuttleworth to the top spots last year. Your vote really does count to determine who most deserves to win this year.

IF_DO
In 2014, three best friends from university came together, abandoning safe jobs in London to set up IF_DO. Three years later they completed the critically acclaimed summer pavilion for London Festival of Architecture at Dulwich Picture Gallery and since then, their portfolio has kept growing. They work at all scales, from small interventions to strategic masterplans. ifdo.co

John Puttick Associates
Initially founded in New York in 2014, the practice moved to London on winning the prestigious competition to refurbish Preston Bus Station in 2015. They pursue a design that is both sculptural and articulate, while also highly functional and environmentally sensitive. johnputtickassociates.com

Catherine White Interiors
Catherine White launched the interior design company in 2011, having worked internationally for 11 years. She has designed multiple stores for client Vape Superstore, one of which was shortlisted in the Retail Design category last year. Bethan Laura-Wood
Since graduating in 2009, Bethan has built a multidisciplinary practice characterized by material investigation, artisan collaboration, and a passion for colour and detail. Along side working closely with Nilufar Gallery since 2011 for Limited edition and one off works, she has created works and installations for Abet Laminati, Moroso, Valextra, Kvadrat, Bitossi Ceramiche, Tory Burch, cc-tapis, Tolix and Hermés. bethanlaurawood.com

Jennifer Newman
Starting out as an artist, Jennifer Newman has an instinctive love for colour and materials, which she translated to furniture design in 2006. Now she is considered by some to be a sculptor, due to the detail and use of materials in her design. She specialises in robust furniture for indoors and outdoors. In 2009, with the launch of Utility, commercial work became her main business. Nokia employed her to give their offices a more domestic, flexible look. Martin Ballendat
With a desire for a simplistic but rigorous design approach, Ballendat has a strong interested in the twisted shape and how it can be used both ergonomically and functionally. This creates a product that is both useful and elegant. Ballendat has designed for Boss Design, Brunner, Zentih Interiors and Profim, amongst others. ballendat.de

Marcel Wanders
With over 1,900 products, Marcel Wanders seeks to celebrate humanity in the world of computerised design. Wanders is famed for his pairing of high-tech materials with low-tech production methods. Maarten Baas
Maarten Baas is often described as an ‘author designer’ due to his work lying on the threshold of art and design. His work is known as rebellious, playful, intellectual, theatrical and artistic. He has designed for brands such as Moooi, Valerie Objects, Lasvit and Laikingland. maartenbaas.com

Kinnersley Kent Design
Working between London and Dubai, KKD initially built their reputation in retail. The Fold’s new flagship store in London, the ABC Verdun department store in Beirut and the Aloft Hotel in the UAE.

Formed through a desire to revolutionise the way people use and inhabit space, using social science and architectural creativiy. Their recent projects include multiple developments for ASOS, University of London and Bauer Media’s new London office.

Darnton B3 are formed through the 2015 merger of Darnton EGS and B3Architects. Known primarily for their work in retail design, they have worked with M&S, Primark and Morrisons for many years.

Known to FX readers through their winning project in last year’s FX Awards, they are best known for their theatre / entertainment projects, and their civic and public projects. * 4. Outstanding Lifetime Achievement

Amanda Levete
This Stirling Prize winning British architect is fresh from success delivering the new Exhibition Road Quarter for the Victoria and Albert Museum and was made a CBE last year for services to architecture. Trained at the Architectural Association, she started her own practice in 2009. Past projects include the MAAT museum in Lisbon and the second M-Pavilion for the Naomi Milgrom Foundation in Melbourne. ala.uk.com

Julia Peyton-Jones
Having spent 25 years as director of the Serpentine Galleries, Peyton-Jones oversaw its major refurbishment and transformation over the decades. She inaugurated the annual Serpentine Gallery Pavilion; inviting designers who have never broke ground in the UK to create a temporary structure at the Gallery. She was appointed DBE in 2016 for services to the arts.

Michael Squire
Michael Squire has, for four decades, led Squire & Partners to a quiet and understated success, having spent a career keeping himself under the radar. He focuses on architecture’s ability to subtly adopt the surroundings and work for the client and user. His practice has recently relocated to Brixton into a dilapidated Edwardian department store that they have completely re-imagined to become their new home. squireandpartners.com

Daniel Libeskind
Libeskind’s architecture has become synonymous with emotional and spiritual architecture; the Jewish Museum in Berlin. Libeskind won the competition to masterplan the World Trade Centre in New York and delivered an emotional design with two sunken memorial fountains. More recently, he has completed work on the National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa. libeskind.com

Eva Jiricna
A Czech architect and designer, working in London and Prague, Jiricna is known for her monumental steel and glass staircases – notably the Knightsbridge flat she design for Joseph Ettedgui, having designed several retail stores for his label Joseph. Noted for her interior design finishes, and her innovative use of industrial materials in retail and commercial spaces as well as the Canada Water bus station and has received honorary degrees from from the University of Nottingham, London Metropolitan University and the Royal College of Art. She is also a member of the RA Council.
