Census Objectives:

Forest Research is carrying out this census on behalf of the Forestry Commission in Scotland and England and the Welsh Government to provide information on the nature and type of machinery used in British forestry.  The the aim is to measure current harvesting capacity, scale of future investment and the need for support for future investment in machinery, skills and qualifications.

How the information will be used:

We aim to create a comprehensive list of types of machinery used for forest harvesting in Great Britain.  Also to identify trends in the harvesting resource nationally and gauge the capacity and strength of the industry.  The data will be used to inform forest policy, and to plan and provide support to the sector through future research and grant funding.  Results will be summarised in a report.  All published information will be anonymous but your details will be retained and we may contact you for follow up information if you agree that we may do so to assist the forestry sector.

By completing this census you confirm that you agree to the Survey Monkey privacy policy and agree with the description of 'How the information will be used' above.

If you would like a paper copy of the census form to complete rather than this online version - please contact Forest Research, Technical Development directly on 0300 067 6935.
