The journey of a student midwife from inception to qualification is a wide and varied path to tread, comprising of input from mentors, educators, service users and fellow students. Student midwives in the UK are raising the issue of seeing and being involved in not evidence-based practices in their work placements and the negative consequences of challenging those.

The Royal College of Midwives has listened to the students’ voices, raised through the RCM students’ forum and student societies and has launched the Re-designing the Evidence/Practice Connection (REPC) project.  We are starting by exploring student midwives’ placement experiences using this survey.
