Managing consultancy in universities and research institutes: sharing best practice and experiences

Research consistently shows that there are more academics/researchers involved in consultancy work than any other form of KEC. And consultancy offices seem to be engaging with larger numbers of academic staff than any other KEC support function.

But are we – as a KEC community – really making the most of this huge opportunity for our own institutions?

PraxisAuril is keen to facilitate a more cohesive ‘Consultancy community of practice’. The aim of this would be:
• To increasingly inspire KEC offices (and their institutions) to capitalise on consultancy
• To bring together and support those currently involved in managing consultancy services in universities and research institutes
• To encourage and support people/institutions considering a more structured approach to managing academic consultancy.

In the past, PraxisAuril has run training courses on managing academic consultancy. We are now keen to explore possible new ways to understand the value of consultancy, and help to share good practice and experiences in managing academic consultancy.
