The Big Skills Discovery

A shortage of skills in the UK is threatening a number of industries at a time when we should be focusing on generating growth. As Plymouth’s anchor organisation for skills, City College is responsible for developing the area’s current and future workforce. We see it as our civic duty and a privilege to support economic growth in the region, and so we are undertaking a programme of activities focused on the skill-needs of our city.

At the heart of this, we are asking Plymouth businesses to tell us about the roles and skills they need in their businesses now, and also about the roles and skills that they anticipate needing over the next five years. This will help to paint a bigger picture of the skills gap for the city as a whole, and can open the door to discussions with the College about how we can work with you to help solve this issue.
