This survey has been created by people working in the arts. Inc Arts works with arts organisations to build lasting inclusive change in the arts workforce – from front of house, to administration and beyond. We’re interested in the people ‘behind the scenes’ who work to make what goes on stage (or in festivals, venues and galleries) happen.

Inc Arts has teamed up with research specialists The Bridge Group to explore diversity and inclusion in arts roles as outlined above, with a particular focus on mid- to senior career progression.

We’d like to hear from the widest range of people to help us with this research. Your answers to this survey will help us to research

·      How do we create and sustain careers in the arts?
·      What can help to make a more diverse and inclusive sector?

The Bridge Group is a charitable policy and research specialist, based at King’s College London. Your responses are confidential: they will only go to The Bridge Group, who have in place the strictest protocols on data collection and storage. Your responses will never be used for anything except this research, and we will only be in touch with you afterwards if you want us to.

Please volunteer to share your views

Do our background characteristics affect our career progression? If so, how? We’d like to interview individuals about your experience of career progression in the arts. Please let us know if you’d be willing to talk to us by phone or in person to share your experience and help our research further.

Again, what you share with us will never be shared in any way that would identify you: we will only share it as part of a pattern of findings – it will be an important part of the Bridge Group’s research.

We would like to interview individuals about their lived experiences of progression in arts management, and whether, and how, background characteristics are considered to affect this. Interviews will take no longer than one hour, and will be arranged at your convenience. These will be undertaken by the Bridge Group.

You can indicate your willingness to be interviewed by completing your details below. The researcher undertaking the interview will not have access to the information you have submitted above.

**Fair processing notice: For more information on the use of your data by The Bridge Group, please refer to the The Bridge Group privacy policy. Please also be aware that in submitting name and contact details via this survey form, this means sending personal data (including special category data) to the US, where it may not be offered the same legal protections as within the EU under GDPR (please refer to the SurveyMonkey privacy policy for more information). You therefore do so only on the basis of explicit consent. If you would like to volunteer for a qualitative interview and would prefer to submit your responses and personal details to The Bridge Group separately (instead of via this survey form), please contact a member of the research team on artsdiversityandinclusion@the-bridgegroup.co.uk **

If you do not wish to volunteer to be interviewed, please leave this final section blank and go straight to ‘Submit’ to provide your survey responses anonymously.

We will select a purposive sample from those who volunteer (where we choose a sample of volunteers from a variety of backgrounds), and so your offer to speak with us may or may not be taken up. We will be in touch regardless.

Thank you for taking part
