Under the Data Protection Act 1998, we have a legal duty to protect any information we collect from you. This notice sets out the basis on which any personal data you provide to us will be processed by us.

Historic Environment Scotland (HES) recognises the importance of protecting the privacy of the information you provide us. Any personal data you provide will be held and used in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

Information we hold
The purpose of our survey is to gather views on reporting on the progress of Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy. The information you provide within this survey is non attributable. If you decide to include identifiable personal information in your responses, this will be removed from any subsequent data held once the survey is closed.

Usage of the information you provide
Feedback from this survey will be used to help us understand whether an online and/or print magazine is an effective way of sharing updates about Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy. Your feedback may be aggregated and presented as graphs and it may be looked at individually to help us understand how best to communicate news about Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy in future. The information you provide in this survey will be used solely for these purposes.

Third party intermediaries
Information you provide will be stored by Survey Monkey and HES. Summaries of your responses may be shared with partner organisations but no individual responses or personal data will be shared with any other third party.

Your information may be transferred to, stored, or processed in the United States by Survey Monkey. HES will hold the raw information provided to us through this survey until 1 April 2019. However, data that is deleted from Survey Monkey servers may remain as residual copies on offsite backup media for up to approximately 12 months afterward.
