Alder Hey Children’s Charity are pleased to pilot a small grants funding scheme for grant requests up to £2,000. Please read the below guidance notes before proceeding with your application. Bright Ideas Funding Objectives

We have launched this funding opportunity with the intention of offering small grants for Bright Ideas that make a big difference to your work and the patients you support.

We are accepting grant applications across all four of our charity pillars but are keen to focus on funding ideas that create 'magic' and make an ongoing positive difference to the lives of patients treated at Alder Hey.

Please discuss this opportunity with your teams to agree which idea will have the biggest impact in your area. We can't wait to hear from you!

Grant Application Process

Application We look forward to receiving all applications that meet our funding criteria. There will be two opportunities to submit a Bright Idea in 2022:

Round 2 opens on Thursday 1st December 2022, closing 5pm on Sunday 22nd January 2023.

Review Your grant application will be reviewed and assessed by our Grants Team once the application deadline has passed.

Decision Applicants will be notified by email of the funding outcome within 4 weeks of the deadline. Successful applicants will receive a grant offer, with grant terms and conditions.

Monitoring and Evaluation All grant holders are expected to provide funding updates/reports to the Charity so that we can share the fantastic work that you are doing with our donors. Our grants team will discuss this with successful applicants.

Alder Hey Children’s Charity guiding principles

Our funding should bring magic to the lives of Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust patients and their families, and support the amazing team of staff and volunteers who work with them. We fund things that are above and beyond core NHS budgets.
We support a healthier future for children and young people at Alder Hey by funding state-of-the-art technology and helping to bring the medical innovations of the future.
Our funding has to stretch as far as it can and positively impact the lives of as many Alder Hey families as possible. That means we fund the needs of wider patient groups and not individual patient treatments, equipment/aids or expenses.*

Magic
There is a special feeling when you walk into Alder Hey - the ‘magic’ that makes hospital life brighter for our brave, young patients. From art and music projects to the latest distraction technology, well-being initiatives, toys, Ward Chefs and more - Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust strives to provide the best patient experience possible. Charity funding supports projects, technologies and experiences that go above and beyond what is available on our NHS.

The Park Campus
The Trust have a long-term vision to create a world-leading healthcare campus that provides a welcoming and supportive place for children and families. Charity funding supports enhancements to new building projects and refurbishment of existing areas across the Alder Hey Park Campus.

Equipment
Charity funding is for state-of-the-art, non-core equipment. The focus is on lifesaving equipment and advanced technologies that cannot be funded centrally, but help Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust's clinicians to do the very best for our patients.

Research & Innovation
Funding requirements in these areas at Alder Hey Children's NHS Foundation Trust can be very large and can often be funded through external research grants and commercial connections. However, developing projects to this point takes time and resource which is where Charity funding can support – e.g. providing seed funding or supporting salary costs.

Please note: This application form must be completed in one sitting and cannot be saved then returned to. A copy of the completed application form will not be automatically sent to you, but can be requested from the Grants Team grantgivingcharity@alderhey.nhs.uk after submission for your records.
