Froghopper and leafhopper recording for adult bugs (not spittle)

If you saw an adult bug (not in spittle), please answer the questions below.
If you saw spittle or a nymph (juvenile bug) inside spittle, please click here.

This survey focuses on all froghopper (spittlebug) species and certain larger species of leafhopper that feed on plant xylem fluid, and that may become important vectors of Xylella disease in plants, should the Xylella bacterium arrive in the UK. The results will be used to map the distribution of these insects and the plants they feed on to understand better how Xylella might enter and spread in the UK. The survey is part of the BRIGIT project coordinated by the John Innes Centre. By completing this survey you are giving permission for us to store and use your data for this purpose for the duration of the BRIGIT project.

Please note that froghoppers (spittlebugs) and leafhoppers do not cause significant damage to plants and do not transmit any other important plant diseases. As far as we know, the Xylella bacterium is not present in the UKThere is therefore no need to remove the bugs or to treat the plant.
More information can be found on the survey website.
