Zero Carbon Compton community energy survey

What is Zero Carbon Compton (ZCC)?
Zero Carbon Compton (ZCC) is open to all villagers who would like to take an active role in responding to the climate emergency by addressing our aim to make the village net zero carbon by 2030.

Why does ZCC want to do this work?
Being an off-gas grid village with poor public transport links puts our village in the unfortunate position of being relatively high in its carbon output profile. Alongside supporting residents to tackle the fabric of their buildings in terms of improving energy efficiency (e.g. insulation) we also think it is vital that we look at tackling the major source of carbon generation in our village, primarily use of oil/unsustainable sources for heating. We want to understand what options we have as a village to change this. There are various elements to approach, and one of these is using renewable energy – ideally renewable energy generated within the village.

What's next?
GOOD NEWS! We have recently secured funds to investigate what options the village has to generate our own energy (including electricity and heat).

With the support of Chelwood Community Trust, the CDCA, Bath & West Community Energy (BWCE) and others, we have funding lined up to carry out preliminary feasibility studies.

The aim of this questionnaire is to establish data around the village’s carbon use and needs, and to find out your views around the various options available for locally generated renewable energy.

Thanking you in advance for giving your time to give us your feedback.
