Thank you for your interest in making a referral to the Brent Music Academy Pilot Programme running May-July 2022. We wish to identify students who are already excelling or have the POTENTIAL to excel at music and related industry skills. We will provide a supported, professional learning environment for these students to realise their potential and accelerate their musical development.

There are two pathways available on the Academy scheme:
Performance Pathway - creative, collaborative, cross-genre opportunities for young people interested in playing or singing on any instrument or voice type, including electronic instruments.
Industry Pathway - this pathway will cater for young people interested in gaining experience of music business, administration or production - from audio engineering to event management, promotion and beyond.

As a music, education or youth professional, your observations form an important part of the assessment for Brent Music Academy (BMA) places. Those students matching the referral criteria will be invited to participate in a workshop to be assessed by BMA staff before a final decision to accept is taken. NB: This form is only to be completed by a music, education or youth professional with knowledge of the named young person. We are not accepting referrals directly from parents or young people at this time. If you are a parent or young person, please speak to a trusted adult professional at school or in a community group and ask them to complete the form for you.

BMA is not a replacement for a young person's current musical learning provision. Young people accepted onto the programme are expected to continue lessons with their current teachers and continue to participate in any school/borough/community music groups of which they are currently a member.

We aim to work with young people from a range of backgrounds and experiences, and recognise that different skills are required to be successful at different aspects of the music industry and Academy programme. Please answer the following questions as fully as possible, but don't worry if some questions are not specifically relevant to the interests or experiences of the specific young person.
