Introduction

In June 2020, CAFE’s research into the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on disabled football fans highlighted how important attending live football matches is for disabled people and the negative impact the suspension of live football had on the lives and well-being of many disabled fans.

Since autumn 2020, spectators from several countries across Europe have been able to return to watching live matches at stadiums with reduced capacities and a variety of safety measures in place. CAFE would welcome hearing from disabled fans who have been able to return to stadia on how they found the experience, from the provision of accessible matchday services to any safety measures implemented. What was successful and what could be improved?

CAFE is also keen to hear from disabled supporters who have not yet returned to live matches to further understand the factors and barriers that have prevented them from going back to supporting their team live.

The findings of this research will help CAFE support UEFA, national associations, and football clubs in ensuring that disabled fans are considered at all stages during the planning for a return of spectators and that services implemented are accessible, ensuring a welcoming, inclusive and safe return for all disabled fans.
