1. Introduction

We’re Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights) and we’re so glad you found our Children’s Rights Reporting Survey.
What is this survey about?
If you’re under the age of 18, we want to hear about what you think are the top three big issues facing children and young people today!
What are human rights?
The big issues you talk about are important to you because they have an effect on your human rights.
Human rights are things which every child has and they make sure you grow up healthy, happy and safe. For example, you have the human right to go to school, eat healthy food and go see a doctor if you’re poorly!
What will happen to your answers?
Your answers will help us write a report that we will share with the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. These are people who will be looking at how well your human rights are protected, respected and fulfilled across Scotland and the UK! We hope that our report will help the UN Committee give recommendations to the UK and Scottish governments about what they should be doing.
At the end of the survey, we have a question asking if it is okay or not to quote what you have said in our report.

We won't put anything in which may identify who you are!

You can find out more about what we do with your information here.
Who can take part?
You can complete this survey by yourself, but if you’re under the age of 13 you will need to ask your parent or carer if it is okay to take part and they will need to help you fill it in.
If you have any questions or need any extra help, please get in touch by contacting

Before we dive in, we want to say a huge thank you for taking the time to complete our survey – it should take about five minutes and we look forward to hearing what you have to say!
