About Business for Naturewe catalyze business leadership to drive policy ambition

Business for Nature is a global coalition bringing together influential organizations and forward-thinking businesses. Together, we demonstrate business action and amplify a powerful business voice calling for governments to reverse nature loss. The coalition brings together over 50 partner organizations, including the World Economic Forum, World Business Council for Sustainable Development, the International Chamber of Commerce, WWF, IUCN, and many more international, national and sectoral organizations.

At the UN Biodiversity Summit in September 2020, we released the list of signatories to the Nature is Everyone’s Business Call to Action. Over 600 companies with revenues of US$ 4.1 trillion have now signed up and are calling on governments to adopt policies now to reverse nature loss in this decade. If your company is not yet a signatory, we encourage you to sign up here.

About this consultation

The United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) will take place in Kunming, China. It is currently scheduled for May 2021, but timing is likely to change due to COVID19. At COP15, governments are expected to adopt a new Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework (Post-2020 Framework). This framework will be the equivalent of the Paris Climate Agreement, but for nature, and it is intended to include goals, targets and policy directions for our global society over the next three decades that will lead the way to achieving the CBD 2050 vision of “Living in Harmony with Nature”.

In August 2020, the CBD published an updated draft of the Post-2020 framework. Business for Nature is in the process of developing its position on this updated draft. Through this consultation, we seek to hear your inputs and views to make sure our position is credible, robust, and grounded in business.

This consultation builds on the high-level policy recommendations we released in January 2020.
