This work might be to:
  • make people more aware of hate crime
  • stop hate crime from taking place
  • protect people from hate crime

  • support someone when they have been the victim of hate crime.

What do we mean by disability hate crime?

Disability hate crimes are any crimes that are targeted at a person because of hostility or prejudice towards that person’s disability. This can be committed against a person or property. We are also including mate crime, which is when people pretend to befriend a person with a disability, but are using this for their own purposes, such as stealing from or abusing them.

What do we mean by learning disabilities?

For this survey we are using the Department of Health’s definition which is, “a significant reduced ability to understand new or complex information to learn new skills (impaired intelligence), with a reduced ability to cope independently (impaired social functioning), which started before adulthood.” (Department of Health, 2001).

We really appreciate your help. It should take around 15 minutes to a maximum of 30 minutes to complete the questionnaire.
