Informed Consent
Dear Participant,
My name is Blessing Popoola. I am currently studying Business information systems. This research is being conducted as part of my final year project at the University of Portsmouth under the supervision of Alice Good.
This questionnaire is confidential and no information that can be personally identifiable to you will be stored with your response. All Data that is gathered from you will be stored securely for the duration of the project, after which it will be destroyed. Data summaries may however be published.
Research purpose:
This study will help the researcher gain an understanding on the effects social media has on academic performance. This will also help education policy makers make policies that maximises social media in the education sector.
Research risks:
This research poses no risks. Participants are free to withdraw at any time (up to one week) and if any of the questions within the questionnaire cause distress then please feel free to contact the researcher. This questionnaire is completely voluntary. All responses given will be anonymous which will only be used for statistical analysis and solely for this study.
Ethical Approval:
An ethical form was completed before the commencement of the project ensuring it meets the University of Portsmouth’s ethical guideline. If you have any questions in regards to the ethics of this research then please contact the Faculty Ethics Committee Carl Adams at carl.adams@port.ac.uk
Please note that once you have started the questionnaire, it means you have understood the above and have given your consent to share your data with the researcher.
The questionnaire includes 22 questions, which should take approximately 10 minutes to fill out. Please feel free to contact the researcher regarding any issues you find with the study or for any other queries relating to this project at blessing-popoola@myport.ac.uk
