Introduction

The Zero Emission Coach Taskforce was established in December 2021 at our zero emission coach conference, the remit of the group is to identify the barriers facing operators in transitioning to zero emission vehicles and to map out a workable and realistic pathway for the coach sector.
On the 6 July this year, the taskforce concluded phase one of their work with the launch of a report that outlined the challenges to decarbonising the coach sector. You can read the full report here.
In September 2022, the taskforce commenced phase two of their work which looks to identify potential solutions, collaborations and to make recommendations that will enable the sector to decarbonise. Part of this work is to answer, ‘What does a zero emission coach need to deliver, in order to enable operators to continue delivering their services?’
This survey has been developed in collaboration with the DfT, and aims to;
- Provide a specification for what a zero emission coach needs to deliver
- Collate robust data on the coach sector to help CPT in our messaging and discussions with government
- To help provide an insight into the industry so that government ministers can better understand the sector and can make recommendations for future supportive measures
All data in this survey will be kept confidential and presented in a way that protects the identity of the operator. Below we ask you to provide your company name and an email contact, this is for internal use only in the event we need to contact you for additional clarification, however the option to skip this question has been provided should you prefer not to share this information.
Lastly, Blumarbl and Zenobe are proposing to conduct a joint project which will look to identify suitable locations for recharging and refuelling infrastructure and make recommendations as to how operators can decarbonise their fleets. To do this, they require operator data that shows where coaches are travelling to, the distances covered, where they are stopping and for how long. The easiest way to obtain this is for operators to share their telematics and tachograph data, and at the end of the survey there is a question which will enable you to indicate if you would be happy to support the project and be contacted with further information.
We thank you for your help and support in this work, it is vital we get as much accurate data as possible to ensure the voice of the coach industry is heard and represented in our discussions with government ministers.
