Survey Information

As a city committed to supporting all our residents, we want to make sure that we have the right provision in place to help children and young people in York with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), to fulfil their individual potential.

We need to provide a wide range of provision to meet the varied and complex needs of our children and young people, within the budget available. And we need your help to make sure we have the right support in place.

We want to hear your views on some suggested changes to:
· Early years provision;
· Provision for children and young people with SEND in mainstream schools; etc
· Support for children and young people with Communication and Interaction Difficulties, including Autism;
· Support for children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs;
· Provision at Applefields School.

Staying exactly as we are and maintaining the current situation is not an option in the long term. The number of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities is expected to continue to rise in York and budget constraints remain. That’s why we want to hear your views about the current arrangements; what works well and what needs to change.

Our survey asks for some personal information which you may choose not to give. We do not publish or share any information which can identify you.
