Business Survey on Policy Proposals and Recycling Implementation Plan

The government is proposing to introduce new measures requiring businesses, public bodies and other organisations in England that produce municipal (household-like) waste to separate a core set of materials from residual waste so that they can be collected and recycled. These materials will include plastic including bottles, tubs, pots and trays; glass; metal; paper and card; and food waste. These materials are in line with those that must be collected from households, which also have a requirement for the collection of garden waste.

The reforms on consistency in recycling are linked closely to the reforms on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for packaging and to the possible introduction of a Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for drinks containers. The implementation plan for business collections will take into account policy developments in these areas as well.

By participating in this survey, you will help WRAP and Defra to better understand the issues that UK businesses face when recycling, and how to best support them, including the allocation of funding.
