Peer support is where individuals or groups of people with lived experience of a particular issue, get together in a balanced way to give and receive advice, information and support. This could be around a shared background, experience, impairment, issue or activity.
A group of organisations that offer peer support are working together to organise a peer support event to celebrate the fantastic work that large and small community groups do to support people in their locality. The event will celebrate ALL activities across all disciplines; for example Faith, Disability, Sexuality, Migrant Communities, Carers, Black, Minority & Ethnic communities (BME) etc.
We have formed a small working group which includes; Equal Lives, The Benjamin Foundation, Matthew Project, Norfolk & Suffolk Mental Health Trust, Carers Matter, The LGBT Project, Norfolk County Council (NCC) and Get me Out of The 4 Walls .
At the event you will be able to find out what support is available in the area, meet other people and find out about all the great work that people are doing in their locality to support each other. However, rather than us decide exactly what should happen, we would like you to tell us. Please answer the questions in this survey and share your ideas and suggestions. Please also tell us if you would like us to arrange similar events elsewhere in the county. The survey should take 5-10 minutes to complete.
