INVITATION TO TAKE PART IN A RESEARCH STUDY
You are being invited to take part in a study which will investigate relationships between negative life events, gender role norms, mental health, and suicide. The study is being conducted by myself (Charlotte Elliott) as part of my PhD at the University of Dundee under the supervision of Dr Fhionna Moore.

PURPOSE OF THE RESEARCH
The purpose of this study is to gain some idea of how negative life events and gender role norms interact with each other to impact upon mental health and lead to suicidal thoughts and actions in some people. This forms part of my PhD project which has the overall aim of contributing to explanations of high suicide rates in particular social groups with the hope of then being able to inform interventions necessary to lower those rates.

Please be aware that this research is designed to identify varying levels of depression, anxiety and suicidal tendencies. As this is anonymous the researchers will not be able to contact you to inform you on what level you score. Furthermore, the researchers are not in a trained clinical position to diagnose you. For these reasons we cannot assist you in your own personal diagnosis. Should you feel you need any psychological help in this regard please contact your GP or speak to the helplines listed below.

To take part in this study you must be currently residing in the UK.
