Insights around challenges and opportunities for commercialising research out of the social sciences would help us redefine activities and tools.

Themes arising may include the availability of learning opportunities, general attitudes towards commercialisation, policies and the institutional environment that can be more or less conducive to the commercialisation of social science research.

For the most part, ideas pipelines and ecosystems have lagged in promoting the commercialisation of research out of social sciences. Moreover, individual researchers may not perceive commercialisation as viable or appropriate in the social sciences.

* 2. What do you think are the opportunities coming from the commercialisation of research out of the social sciences?

The commercialisation of research can drive growth and increase productivity while tackling societal issues. Moreover, commercialisation can foster entrepreneurial skills, best practices in social science research, and alternative (or complementary) career opportunities for individual researchers.
