Introduction

Yorkshire Coast BID Survey

Have your say about how a Business Improvement District (BID) could help your business.

The Yorkshire Coast has a reputation for tourism, and success as a destination. However it faces an increasingly competitive UK market. It is key that we do our level best to make our place, our product and our service stand out. To run innovative marketing campaigns and events so that it becomes a true destination of choice.

To do this we need not just the few, but all businesses to come together and help build sustainable plans and funds. The use of Business Improvement Districts have given a number of our competitors the edge.

The Mosaic Partnership was commissioned to carry out a feasibility for a Business Improvement District along the Yorkshire Coast. They concluded positively and we are now in a position to move ahead with full development. The Mosaic Partnership has developed nearly 100 BIDs in the UK and abroad and is one of the leading consultancies in the UK in this field.

BIDs are an exciting and sustainable way to manage places and are increasingly being used by destinations to ensure that they are competitive both in marketing and managing their offer.
Lincolnshire Coast, the English Riviera in Devon and Greater Yarmouth have introduced BIDs, where businesses get together and fund activities such as marketing and promotion. These areas will raise over £9m in 5 years to do this work.

This survey is a stage in establishing what a BID would do. If established it would generate resources to ensure the Yorkshire Coast and its businesses are able to compete effectively in the coming years.

As a business in the area we would like to hear your views on the areas of work that interest you.

All information received will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
