Scottish Women's Convention Survey on Menopause

The SWC, in our thematic body of work on health last summer, uncovered a wealth of evidence from women like relating to the menopause. We have created this survey to further explore the issues raised, so that we can have as broad an understanding of women's experiences as possible. Women need information and understanding from the outset, from pre-menopause to what comes after. At present, many women have described being simply given some pills by their doctor and that is the end of it.

Menopause covers much more than just a physical transition. It impacts on every aspect of our lives as women, both individually and collectively. We hear about workplace discrimination on a daily basis. But we very  rarely hear about discrimination because of a crucial issue such as the menopause, for a number of reasons, including stigma, fear of demotion, fear of being signalled out as “too old” and so on.

We cannot create an overview of this key issue for women without your participation. Please feel free to share this survey with friends, family, colleagues – any women who you think would be interested in taking part. If you have any comments or questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch - you can email lorna.kettles@scottishwomensconvention.org or call 0141 339 4797. Thanks again for participating.
