COVID-19 & Bangladeshi Ethnicity
On the 2nd June 2020, Public Health England published a report which confirmed that people from minority communities have been disproportionately affected during Covid-19. They face a higher risk of serious illness and Covid-19-related death rates of BAME people in the most deprived areas of England have been more than double for those living in the least deprived areas.
For those people of Bangladeshi origin, the report revealed that they are around twice the risk of death when compared to people of white British ethnicity. It is vitally important that the government provide safety advice to all BAME communities, but particularly to Bangladeshi communities.
