Hello

We would really like to hear your views on two important issues for Greenwich.

First we will ask some questions about mental health and wellbeing, then some questions around healthy weight, particularly about healthy eating and being active.
Mental health and wellbeing
1 in 4 people experience a mental health problem every year. Half of them say that the isolation and shame that comes with this is worse than the condition itself.

Six out of ten people with a mental health problem waited over a year to tell the people closest to them about it.

Just over a quarter of young people with mental health problems say that negative reactions from others had made them want to give up on life.

Question Title

* 9. What do you think we should be focusing on to improve mental health and wellbeing in Greenwich?

Healthy weight
Almost two thirds of adults and over a third of 11 year olds are overweight or obese.

Eating well and keeping active make it easier to achieve a healthy weight.

Eating well means following a balanced diet – plenty of fruit and vegetables, wholegrains and not too much sugar, saturated fat and salt. Today it can be harder to eat well because of the large amount of convenience and fast food available at low cost. This has a big impact on how well and how often we eat, and has changed how we think about food.

Being active means doing 20-30 mins of moderate intensity activity a day (that’s activity that raises your heart and breathing rate and makes you feel a bit warmer). It is often argued that our jobs and lifestyles mean we don’t move around as much as we used to, and worries about being safe outside also mean there aren’t as many opportunities to get active as there could be.
