Help us understand how medicine shortages impact you!

Thank you for considering taking this survey – we hope your responses will help us to build an accurate picture of the impact of medicine shortages on patients. This survey should only take 10 minutes.

Who can take this survey?

We welcome responses from individuals who have experienced difficulty accessing a prescribed medicine due to a shortage of the medicine. We also welcome responses from family members and carers of the individual to whom the medicine is prescribed.

What is this survey about?

Like most commodities, medicines are subject to demand and supply pressures. When demand exceeds supply, medicine shortages arise; medicines that should be routinely available become difficult for product providers to access. There are many reasons why a medicine might be difficult to access, including funding and commissioning decisions. Shortage of medicines specifically are a consequence of problems in the supply chain.

As a result of medicine shortages, patients can receive delayed treatment, be prescribed alternative medicines and pay out-of-pocket for substitutes, in addition to other consequences.

We are interested in hearing your experiences of medicine shortages to improve our understanding of the impact of medicine shortages on patient care. Please answer all questions that you feel are of relevance to you.

We may also use the information you provide, fully anonymised, in our policy work.

This survey will close on 4th June 2018 - if you wish to contribute after this date, or have any questions about this survey, please email toni.qualey@geneticalliance.org.uk
