Background information

BASW England is looking  to understand your views on mentoring. Currently there is a small BASW mentoring scheme, which was initially developed as a response to calls for support from newly qualified social workers (NQSW’s) who were finding it difficult to find work as a social workers.  The scheme has also been used by social workers seeking advice on returning to social work, as well as overseas social workers who need advice and guidance on working as a social worker in the UK.  For more information about the current scheme click here.

Since the launch of the scheme there have been significant changes to the support and development for NQSW’s, with employers and universities working closely together to recruit and support NQSW’s.
