Lancaster City Council is keen for Williamson Park to be as inclusive and safe as possible for local residents and visitors.

The park has always welcomed dogs and we recognise that owners welcome the opportunity to allow them off their leads for exercise.

However, following an increase in complaints from the public, we are now considering the introduction of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to ensure that dogs are kept on leads whilst in the park.

Dogs would still be welcome in the park if the PSPO was introduced, but owners would be required to keep them on a lead and under control at all times and failure to do so would result in a fine of £100.

These restrictions are already in place in many other designated areas across the district, including Happy Mount Park in Morecambe.

Please spare five minutes to complete this short survey, which aims to find out people's views on this including potential options and asks for alternative suggestions.

All of the views expressed in the survey will be taken into account. However, please note that this is not a vote and the results will be considered alongside various other information to help to inform the council’s decision.
