Question Title

Why a Neighbourhood Plan for Wilbarston?

The Localism Act of 2011 gave the local residents power to shape the future of their communities by putting local plans at the heart of a new planning system. Under the Act, councils and local people can make decisions about any future housing, its design and location. Wilbarston Parish Council has made the decision to take on these new powers and to prepare a ‘Neighbourhood Plan’.

As important though housing development may be, the plan is about much more. It can include policies governing the future of green spaces, heritage assets, the environment, community facilities, economic activity, transport and roads - all things that will impact on the community in the coming years. The plan is a legally binding document which will be used by North Northamptonshire Council to determine planning applications in the Parish.

It is really important that everyone contributes their views so that the plan truly reflects the collective view of the community. We have the chance to make decisions for the future of Wilbarston rather than leaving it to others.
Let’s make sure we make the most of the opportunity.

This questionnaire is an important part of the process. We want to hear from you about what you think is good or bad about living in Wilbarston so that we can understand what needs to change and your aspirations for the village.
