Waverley Borough Council has, for the first time ever, declared a state of emergency because of the need for urgent action on climate change. Our actions to reduce carbon emissions are part of a worldwide movement to reduce carbon emissions to a level which will keep global temperatures in check and avoid the utterly catastrophic events that will ensue should global temperatures rise by more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

The information gathered from our residents, businesses and other key groups in the borough will offer valuable insight into what we as a council can do to reduce carbon emissions but also highlight what we can all do as a community to help achieve the goal of being carbon-neutral by 2030.
